Ashley Bucci, LCSW-C
I am currently licensed in Maryland, Colorado, Virginia, and Washington, DC.
I offer virtual therapy, in-person picnic therapy for fall 2024 in Cabin John, MD, and an in-person motherhood group support starting Friday, September 13th, 2024 in Glen Echo, MD.
I have almost 10 years of experience providing clinical social work practices and therapy using evidence-based treatments. I use an insight-oriented approach to therapy, where I focus on the client’s unconscious processes and how they manifest in present behavior, thoughts, and emotions. I have a strong interest in working with clients experiencing life transitions, relationship conflicts, and maternal mental health conditions. The goals I have for therapy include helping self-awareness and understanding how the influences of the past show up currently in a client’s life. I focus on relationship patterns, childhood experiences, unresolved conflicts or beliefs, and what may or may not motivate a client. I help clients reframe current situations and act as a personal trainer for the mind, heart, and soul to help guide the work of listening, validating, clarifying, exploring, empathizing, and understanding.
I have a growth mindset approach to my work and am committed to embracing evidence-based research. That being said, research shows us that success in therapy relies most on the relationship between the client and therapist and that it is a relational experience and an opportunity for connection. What might work for your friend, might not work for you. I am here to serve your best interests and to support what works best for you. I will challenge you and make you feel uncomfortable at times. If you are a person who is not ready or willing for this kind of therapy, I may not be the therapist for you. I look at my job as a way to help folks become historians of their own lives, understand patterns of relationships in their lives, build connections, and encourage folks to stay curious.
“The secret to change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but building the new.”
